In today’s beauty obsessed culture, eyebrows are everything! They are the feature that essentially frame the face, which is why a majority of beauty enthusiasts invest such a large amount of time maintaining their eyebrows. Unfortunately, many of us have over-plucked at some point, or experienced that horrific salon visit where half our brows were waxed off. (It’s okay — we’ve all been there!) If you’re currently suffering from a brow disaster, keep calm! We’ve developed a simple five-step eyebrow rehab program to help you get those brows back in tip-top shape!
The 5-Step Eyebrow Rehab Program:
STEP 1: Fill Them In
Put the tweezers down. Take a deep breath. It will all be okay. Start by covering any patches of bare skin with products like the Laura Mercier Eyebrow Pencil or the waterproof Retractable Brow Pencil from Sephora. Next, get your hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo. A powder will help to set the pencil, making your brows look fuller, but not too heavy.
STEP 2: Grow Them Out
DO NOT pluck or trim your eyebrows for a minimum of six weeks. Yes, this may seem like an eternity, but there are other methods to avoid having unkempt brows during this process. As you are waiting for them to grow out, apply High Brow by Benefit or Wonder Pencil by NYX to conceal the appearance of unwanted stray hairs around your eyebrows.
STEP 3: Find Your Arch
Get yourself a professional brow map to find the perfect placement for the start, arch, and end of your brows. Then use a stencil to achieve the desired shape & width. The Fall in Line Brow Stencil Kit from Sephora and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes will help you map out and recreate a full brow with your desired shape.
STEP 4: Try Again
Once your brows have grown back fully, look for more precise ways to shape them. The SLANT® TWEEZER from Tweezerman has a slanted angle that makes it easier to pluck out unwanted hair more accurately. If you can’t stand the pain of tweezing and prefer to get it over with at once, try the Parissa Brow Shaper, which contains clear mini wax strips for a more precise application and to easily see where to create your arch. Remember to stay calm and take your time. Better to get it done right than to get done quickly.
STEP 5: Treat the Area
The skin around the eye area is ultra sensitive, and hair removal often causes minor skin irritation — which is why it is important to replenish the area with moisture. A great product is the AntiRedness Calming Serum by Exuviance, this serum is excellent for reducing redness and soothing the skin, especially after waxing!
