Swimwear season is almost upon us, and this year, Barbie’s helping us get ready! Mattel has teamed up with Target to promote the retail giant’s 2016 swimwear collection. The campaign features Barbie’s diverse new range of dolls, rocking tiny replicas from Target’s latest swim line.
In January, the iconic toy brand announced that its dolls would be available in three new sizes (petite, tall, and curvy), as well as a variety of skin tones and hair types. Now, Barbie’s body-positive movement continues with this Target collab! The campaign was inspired by the concept of #NOFOMO, which stands for “no fear of missing out,” and aims to promote self-confidence and inclusion.
Target says, “we don’t dread swimsuit season — we celebrate it!” With this collection, the retailer is proving that you don’t have to be size zero to rock a bathing suit. Target is using Barbie to encourage shoppers to let go of their body insecurities and just have fun!
